Gisette Uthoff, PsyD
Dr. Uthoff specializes in helping first responders and their families work through a wide range of challenges, from the impact of traumatic events to the personal struggles that often go unseen. Trauma doesn’t always look like combat or catastrophic violence—it can also stem from divorce, betrayal, or the loss of a loved one. No matter the source, trauma can affect how we think, feel, and function in our daily lives.
I have worked with individuals who have faced deeply personal challenges, such as infidelity, as well as those who have endured large-scale critical incidents, including the Las Vegas shooting, the San Bernardino terrorist attack, and active shooter situations in Los Angeles. My approach draws on highly effective, evidence-based treatments such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). These therapies are goal-focused and results-driven, with many clients reporting significant improvement within 2–8 sessions.
As part of a collaborative practice, I work closely with trusted colleagues to ensure that each client has access to the care and expertise they need, whether that means continuing with me or seamlessly transitioning to another specialist. My commitment is to provide first responders with effective, compassionate care that supports both their resilience and their overall well-being.
