Peer Support Training
In 2017, Dr. Gina Gallivan launched the Southern California Regional Peer Support Team, bringing together Peer Support Team Leaders from multiple public safety agencies. Her goal was to create a regional network that could offer emotional mutual aid, training, and support across departments—especially during critical incidents and times of need.
Dr. Gallivan invited trusted psychologists, chaplains, and trauma-informed therapists to join the team, expanding the group into a robust, multidisciplinary resource for first responders across Southern California. Today, the Regional Peer Support Team serves as a collaborative, compassionate network that provides training, crisis response, and cross-agency support rooted in cultural competence and shared mission.
This team reflects a core belief: that peer connection, when supported with professional guidance, can be one of the most powerful tools in protecting mental health and building long-term resilience in the first responder community.
