Dr. Shonna Hill is a Clinical Forensic Psychologist with advanced certification in Emergency Crisis Response and Forensic Traumatology from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and the National Center for Crisis Management. She is also listed in the International Registry of the American Academy of Experts.
With 14 years of law enforcement experience, Dr. Hill has served in patrol, high-risk entry teams, and task force assignments, giving her a unique perspective on the psychological needs of officers and first responders. She has also worked extensively with military veterans, supporting their reintegration and mental health as they transition from combat to civilian life.
Her expertise includes PTSD treatment, trauma therapy, depression, anxiety, grief counseling, and childhood trauma recovery. As the lead psychologist for a Critical Incident Stress Management Team, Dr. Hill has responded to over 500 major critical incidents. She is also a POST Certified Academy Instructor, providing mental health training at several police and fire academies across California.
Dr. Hill’s research on social support and law enforcement suicide prevention has been presented at the International Conference & Summit on Violence, Abuse & Trauma. She also developed the Perceived Support of Suicide Ideation Scale, now used in studies addressing suicide risk factors in law enforcement.
In addition, Dr. Hill is the co-creator of Southern California’s first wellness retreat for First Responder spouses, a program dedicated to providing families with practical tools for resilience, emotional balance, and healthy relationships.
With her combined background in law enforcement, forensic psychology, and trauma recovery, Dr. Hill is a trusted expert in supporting first responders, veterans, and their families through life’s most challenging experiences.
